How TikTok Stories Work
A TikTok story is a photo, a video or a short text post that stays up for 24 hours. After that it disappears, unless the creator adds it to a Highlight on their profile.
Creators can see how many views each story gets and which accounts watched it. If you watch a story in the TikTok app, the creator can see that you viewed it, even if your account is private or your profile view history is turned off.
A creator can also share a single story with just their friends or keep it to themselves, and those stories aren't public.
What Anonymous Means Here
Anonymous here means you don't log in and your TikTok account is never used. Our server looks up a public account's stories for you and streams story videos to you without storing them.
With no account of yours involved, you won't show up in a story's list of viewers.
Images such as story photos, video covers and profile pictures load straight from TikTok's servers, though, so those servers see your browser's requests for them. Our server keeps ordinary request logs for up to seven days.
Only stories a public account shares with everyone can be shown. Private accounts and stories limited to friends stay private.

How do I view TikTok stories anonymously?
Enter the account's @username above and its Stories tab opens. You never sign in and your TikTok account isn't used, so you won't show up in their story viewers.
Will they know I watched their story?
They won't see your account. TikTok shows creators which accounts watched each story, and yours isn't used here, so it won't be on that list.
Why are no stories showing?
Stories disappear 24 hours after they're posted, so the account may have nothing live right now. Stories the creator shared only with friends won't show up here either.
Can I download TikTok stories?
Yes. As long as a story hasn't expired, you can save it to your phone or computer.
Can I see stories from a private account?
No. A private account only shares its stories with followers it has approved, so they can't be viewed here.
Do I need the TikTok app or an account?
